About & Our Approach

How Pine Ridge Outdoor approaches a property — site-first design, honest scoping, and planning around the Front Range climate.

About

A considered approach to outdoor space

Pine Ridge Outdoor is a fictional company built for this portfolio — but the approach described here is a genuine, deliberate design philosophy, not filler copy.

How we think about a property

A good landscape starts with how the space will actually be used, not with a plant list. We spend real time on the site walk — reading sun, slope, and soil — before a single material gets picked, because the right answer changes with each of those.

We’d rather scope a project honestly — including what it’ll take to maintain — than oversell what a single install can do. A landscape that’s realistic about upkeep is one that still looks good in year three.

Built For The Front Range

Designing for this specific climate

Elevation & sun

Higher UV and intense afternoon sun mean plant and material choices that hold up to more direct exposure than lower-elevation planting guides assume.

Freeze-thaw cycles

Hardscape base preparation matters more here than in milder climates — it’s the difference between a patio that lasts and one that heaves within a few winters.

Water-wise where it counts

We lean on drought-tolerant, regionally-suited plantings for beds that don’t need to carry the whole visual weight of the yard — and spend the water budget where it earns its keep.

What working with us looks like

Share what you’re working with, we walk the property and talk through options honestly, and once scope is agreed we schedule the work and keep you posted as it happens. No pressure to add scope beyond what the property actually needs.
